All You Need To Know About Face Masks

Face packs or otherwise face masks have been here for around a long time now. They have been popular since the ancient king and queen times, where women used to use homemade ingredients to give them a natural glow. One popular ingredient which was widely used in Egypt was milk!

Face packs are simply a mix of natural or chemical ingredients to form a paste. The main purpose of putting on a face mask is to tighten the skin and give it a glowing finish.

Why do we need a face mask?

Here are some of the benefits of using a face mask for our skin:

  • it gives a glowing skin
  • it removes dead skin cells
  • it immediately tones and revitalizes
  • it removes dirt and other particles, and cleanses the skin
  • it minimizes fine lines, wrinkles and other signs of aging
  • it makes your skin feel fresh and healthy
  • it moisturizes the skin

Usually, face masks at home are applied in the form of a paste. Once put on, the water evaporates and tightens the skin. This is the very purpose of using a face mask. Leave it on for a few minutes, and then rinse it off.

When you create DIY face masks, you will know the vitamins and minerals that go into it. Oranges and lemon bring Vitamin C to the skin, which promotes anti-aging. Avocados have Vitamin A and E, while bananas are rich in calcium and potassium.

Face Masks Recipes 101

You can create these easy face masks with the available ingredients to get a fresh, youthful and rejuvenated look!

Turmeric face mask

Do you have pimples or acne? Then this mask is the right one for you. All you have to do is mix two tablespoons of turmeric (preferably kasturi haldi), and two tablespoons of organic honey, and mix it well.

Apply this paste on a clear, dry face and let it sit for a good five minutes. Rinse the mask off with lukewarm water and apply a moisturizer.

Hydrating face mask with avocado

It is the best homemade face mask for glowing skin due to its rich Vitamin E content. If your skin has been feeling dry for a while now, there is no better ingredient than avocado.

All you have to do is to mash an avocado and add two tablespoons of curd. Then add one tablespoon of olive oil and honey, and mix well. Apply this and let it rest for 20-25 minutes. Rinse well, especially around the hairline. You will definitely see your skin looking more fresh!

Avocados are magic ingredients in skincare, since they contain omega 3 fatty acids that keeps the skin moisturized. Olive oil seals the moisture, while honey and curd give extra softness to the skin.

Exfoliating mask

If you are looking to exfoliate your skin, what better way than a peel-off? Yogurt is a great ingredient for a smooth, supple skin. Thanks to its lactic acid properties, it shoos away the dead skin cells and rejuvenates the skin.

We already know the turmeric-honey mask. Let’s add a little twist to it. Add yogurt to this paste, and you are good to go. All you have to do is, take a tablespoon of turmeric, honey and yogurt and mix it well. Leave this paste on your face for 10 minutes and wash it well. Honey is good for skin elasticity, and turmeric combats pigmentation.

Honey-yeast face mask

This is a standard face mask that is super easy to make. Honey wins hands down as the universal ingredient in homemade masks. It has natural antibacterial properties that curb acne and pimples. On the other hand, yeast contains Vitamin B which keeps your skin clear and prevents breakouts.

This is a must try combo if you have acne-prone skin. Take two used tea bags and boil them with chamomile. Mix one tablespoon of honey and one tablespoon of nutritional yeast. Slowly, add the chamomile tea to the paste to make it liquidy, but avoid making it too watery.

Apply the mask on your face and rinse it off after 20 minutes. Couple it with a moisturizer.

Juice mask

Have you heard of juice cleansing masks? Yes, they are real. These masks are good for the skin and make you feel fresh and activated. Berries and strawberries are a good start for these masks.

In a bowl, add two tablespoons of dried berry powder or strawberry powder, and two tablespoons of coconut milk powder. Mix everything and store in a tight container. When you want to use it, activate the ingredients by adding a little water and make a liquid paste. Once done, apply it on your face and rinse it off after 20 minutes.

This will give you a smooth, bright skin. Due to its antioxidant properties, it is also good for pimples.

Here you go. These are five basic face masks you can try at home.

PS: don’t forget to apply moisturizer after washing off these masks.
